Tragic Passing of A Celtic Thunder

George Donaldson the only Scot in the Irish singing group and stage sensation Celtic Thunder passed away Wednesday, March 12th of a massive heart attack. He was only 46.

George was from Glasgow and joined Celtic Thunder in 2007 and was important in establishing the groups Trademark Irish and Scottish heritage. George was acclaimed in his own right as musician and song writer in the Glasgow folk scene. He had two solo albums released, The White Rose and The World in My Mind.

Described as a kind, loving, gentle giant, he is survived by his wife and 13 year old daughter.

If you've never seen or heard Celtic Thunder take a listen to this brief interview and performance with George and Ryan from 2011. This clip also gives you a great listen to the differences in the Irish and the Scottish accents!
