The Snowman

This was my first Nordic thriller and I loved it! I really liked Harry Hole, the detective in the story and am definitely going to read more in this series. It takes place in Norway, a destination I have not read much about, either fiction or non-fiction so that was interesting to me. I don't usually read books with sex scenes in them and this one did have some, but they weren't overly done and I was okay with them. Norway has never had a serial killer before. But as Inspector Harry Hole and his team delve into unsolved case files they find an alarming number of wives and mothers have gone missing over the years.  and for the first time in his career, Harry is confronted with a serial killer. Thus starts a game of cat and mouse. The serial killer is of course the 'snowman' and he leaves a snowman looking in the window instead of out away from the house at each killing. Quite a signature!

It's a brilliant plot with marvelous characters, no-stop pace. Jo Nesbo has written an exceptional crime novel! This would make an film series too!

  1. Many of the customers in our used bookshop who devoured the Stieg Larsson books are now getting hooked on Jo Nesbo.

Glad to see that you found a new author you like :)
