Back of the book description:
A family lies slaughtered in an isolated house in North East Fife...
Morag Weatherly and her two young daughters have been shot by husband Andrew, an influential politician, before he turned the gun on himself.
But what would cause a rich, successful man to snap so suddenly?
For Inspector Tony McLean, this apparently simple but high-profile case leads him into a world of power and privilege. And the deeper he digs, the more he realises he's being manipulated by shadowy factions.
Under pressure to wrap up the case, McLean instead seeks to uncover layers of truth-putting the lives of everyone he cares about at risk...
You really need to read this series in order. If you don't you will miss a lot because you won't know what's going on with certain relationships and characters. I love this series. I love the setting of Edinburgh and surrounding areas and now that I've been there the book is even more vivid for me! What's not to love about Inspector McLean!?
This installment has a man found dead in the river, naked, covered with tattoos, a family murdered by the father who then kills himself, snow storms, freezing wind, an abandoned mental hospital and a powerful, seductive woman who might just be more than she appears (and she wants Tony big time!), an army of cats and a 'fold' of Highland Cows! Piqued your interest? You'll just have to read it to find out!
Good solid detective work, building tension and suspense and great characters! I really enjoyed it. Thanks, James!
This one makes 11 for Read Scotland 2015! I have to get reading, long way to 25 yet!
