'I am simply a 'book drunkard.' Books have the same irresistible temptation for me that liquor has for its devotee. I cannot withstand them.' L.M. Montgomery

Free Thanksgiving Book and More!

It's snowing lightly at my house this morning! Thanksgiving is tomorrow and I found this wonderful historical-fiction book free on Noisetrade! Sounds really good so I wanted to share it with you because I am thankful for all my wonderful blogging friends!

Thanksgiving by Ellen Cooney

Book Description:
One family. One meal. One table. 350 years.

This remarkable novel follows one New England family from 1662 to the present day in a series of stunning November vignettes. The novel opens with the killing of a turkey and a family secret that will be carried forward through successive generations. The reader comes to know the strong women of the Morley family, whose wisdom and humor is evident through each successive generation as they view the world mainly from their positions in the kitchen. Each chapter title is a food or ingredient used in preparing the Thanksgiving meal. As the reader moves briskly through time with the many generations, we come to know the family truths and lies, the meanings concealed in important family possessions, in ways not possible for the current Morley generation. This adds great appeal and presents us with a delicately crafted narrative quilt containing all the generations past and current in a way that says more about personal human history than the typical war-filled historical novel.

Back on Murder by J. Mark Bertrand
A missing girl.
A corrupt investigation.
They thought they could get away with it, but they forgot one thing:
Roland March is BACK ON MURDER
Houston homicide detective Roland March was once one of the best. Now he's disillusioned, cynical, and on his way out. His superiors farm him out on a variety of punishment details...until an unexpected break gives March one last chance to save his career. And his humanity.
All he has to do? Find the missing teenage daughter of a Houston evangelist that every cop in town is already looking for. But March has an inside track, a multiple murder nobody else thinks is connected. Battling a new partner, an old nemesis, and the demons of his past, getting to the truth could cost March everything. Even his life.

Without a Trace by Colleen Coble
Rock Harbor Series book 1

Bree thinks a plane crash took the lives of her husband and young son, but her son Davy survived the accident. Can she find him before it’s too late?
It’s been months since the crash. K-9 search-and-rescue worker Bree Nicholls knows the chances of finding her husband and son in the vast wilderness of Michigan’s Upper Peninsula grow more remote by the day. But her heart and her faithful dog, Samson, demand she keep searching.
Deep in the woods a young boy wakes in a tiny cabin. He’s being nursed back to health by a reclusive woman, but he can’t figure out why she calls him by a name he doesn’t recognize. Or why she’s calling herself his mother. He wants to leave, but as winter sets in, his very life depends on her care.
Meanwhile, Bree’s relentless determination to find her family has uncovered a violent crime. With the help of Park Ranger Kade Matthews, she discovers the violence may be linked to the plane crash that took her family. Could solving the crime bring her peace with her own loss? Or, more incredibly, reunite her family?
Set in the untamed beauty of Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, the Rock Harbor novels draw readers into the life and adventures of a canine search-and-rescue team as it unravels the secrets of an enchanting wilderness.

I've read this whole series and it is very good! Love the setting. This one is not available for free in the UK though.
