'I am simply a 'book drunkard.' Books have the same irresistible temptation for me that liquor has for its devotee. I cannot withstand them.' L.M. Montgomery

'There are no faster or firmer friendships than those formed between people who love the same books.' Irving Stone

Song for Sunday is back!

Song for Sunday is back because I need it! Hope you like it too.

Redeemed by Big Daddy Weave

Seems like all I can see was the struggle
Haunted by ghosts that lived in my past
Bound up in shackles of all my failures
Wondering how long is this gonna last
Then You look at this prisoner and say to me “son
stop fighting a fight that’s already been won”

I am redeemed, You set me free
So I’ll shake off theses heavy chains
Wipe away every stain now I’m not who I used to be
I am redeemed

All my life I have been called unworthy
Named by the voice of my shame and regret
But when I hear You whisper, “Child lift up your head”
I remember oh God, You’re not done with me yet

I am redeemed, You set me free
So I’ll shake off theses heavy chains
Wipe away every stain, now I’m not who I used to be
I am redeemed

Because I don’t have to be the old man inside of me
Cause his day is long dead and gone
Because I’ve got a new name, a new life I’m not the same
And a hope that will carry me home

I am redeemed, You set me free
So I’ll shake off theses heavy chains
Wipe away every stain, now I’m not who I used to be
I am redeemed

I am redeemed, You set me free
So I’ll shake off theses heavy chains
Wipe away every stain, now I’m not who I used to be

Oh, God, I'm not who I used to be
Jesus, I'm not who I used to be
'Cause I am redeemed
Thank God, redeemed

(Music & Lyrics: Mike Weaver / Benji Cowart)

Redeemed is my favorite word in all the world!

French: rachetées
Danish: indløses
German: eingelöst
Italian: redenti
Hungarian: megváltott
Russian: погашены
Polish: umorzone
Welsh: brynodd
Spanish: redimido
Irish: fuasclaíodh
Afrikaans: verlos

I love how it sounds, how it feels in my mouth, how it looks written down, but most of all what it means...

  • To recover ownership of by paying a specified sum
  • To set free; rescue or ransom.
  • To restore the honor, worth, or reputation of

I'm with Jonathan Edwards, the great Puritan preacher, when he said:  'When I look into my heart, and take a view of my wickedness, it looks like an abyss infinitely deeper than hell.'

Thank God I am rescued, restored, recovered, REDEEMED!

If your interested in Jonathan Edwards click on his name and listen to his greatest sermon ever here or read 'Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God'. WOW it will blow you away! It's known as the sermon that New England never forgave him for like Herod's wife never forgave John the Baptist. It sparked a great controversy and what became known as the Great Awakening. The imagery is awesome.  I don't think this audio is the whole thing. Max Mclean does the best reading of it. I have a CD of it. Couldn't find the whole thing free online though.  You can read all of his works here. Sorry, I got a little carried away today:)
