'I am simply a 'book drunkard.' Books have the same irresistible temptation for me that liquor has for its devotee. I cannot withstand them.' L.M. Montgomery

'There are no faster or firmer friendships than those formed between people who love the same books.' Irving Stone

Best British Short Stories

Life in Dead Trees

Pets on Holiday  Do you take your pet with you on holiday? Who do they stay with if not?

Books Should Be Free!

Interested in Marilyn Monroe? Here's a nice wrap up of her life.

A kids literary hero, Alvin Fernald, detective and inventor. Did you read him when you were young? Nice article about the series and the author.

Dandelion Cottage by Carroll Watson Rankin, published in 1904 by Henry Holt and Company. She first wrote the story serially for her own children. Considered a regional classic in the midwest, it tells of four young girls who negotiate the use of a derelict cottage as a playhouse by pulling dandelions for the owner, prosperous Mr. Black. The Dandelion Cottage is a real cottage and is still in existence and privately owned in Marquette Michigan. If you like L.M. Montgomery you will like Ms. Rankin's book! They are in public domain now and available @ Project Gutenburg. Here are a couple interesting links about the cottage and the story. She has other children's books as well. I have 2 on my ereader. I am planning on reading Dandelion Cottage while in MI. next week!

Video of the week! Eagle trys to take baby!
