Defending our Constitution

Pin It This is a serious subject and I don't usually go there with this blog, but I came across Oath Keepers today and I want to share this with as many people as I can. I am sick at heart with where our government is going. Our Constitution is in grave danger. We have crossed a threshold. I was so excited to come across this group and it gives me hope for our future. It makes me feel safer.

The supreme law of the land here in the USA is the Constitution, not the king, or the president. Our founding fathers put many safe guards in our Constitution to protect American citizens from the tyranny of unjust government. They are not a radical, nut job organization. it's not about Obama or the democrats. It's about understanding what the limits on what federal powers should be. Incidents that happened after Katrina, (on George Bush's watch - people not being allowed to leave the city, guns confiscated, and people held against their will in a locked auditorium for days) spurred men into action to start this group as a tool to educate our protectors and defenders to what the founding fathers set in play and that they have a mandate to disobey any orders that would go against this law of the land. They were hearing that the men were not prepared for those orders and had not thought about it ahead of time.   


'Oath Keepers is a non-partisan association of currently serving military, reserves, National Guard, peace officers, fire-fighters, and veterans who swore an oath to support and defend the Constitution against all enemies, foreign and domestic … and meant it. We won’t “just follow orders.”'

On their blog they have a Declaration of Orders We Will Not Keep. Go HERE to read these.  These men and women have sworn an oath to keep these declarations.

Lt. Cdr. Guy Cunningham authored a survey in 1995 for the Marine Corp. and I think you will find this disturbing. One of the questions was...
"The US government declares a ban on the possession, sale, transportation and transfer of all non-sporting firearms. A thirty day amnesty period is permitted for these firearms to be turned over to local authorities. At the end of this period a number of citizen's groups refuse to turn over their firearms. Consider the following statement... I would fire upon US citizens who refuse or resist confiscation of firearms banned by the US Government.  Strongly disagree__Disagree__ Agree__ Strongly Agree__ No Opinion__"

Keep in mind...
Amendment 2 - Right to Bear Arms. Ratified 12/15/1791.
A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.


11% of the marines surveyed checked No Opinion and even more disturbing 26% checked Agree! 26% would fire on their fellow Americans who resisted the confiscation of firearms banned by the government, who has no authority constitutionally to enact such a ban! There is a need to educate our defenders to the writings of our Constitution and their allegiance to defend the people not just against harm but also against our own government at times.

Have you read our Constitution? I think most people have not. Our young people aren't even taught our founding principles in school anymore and I think you would be hard pressed to find a young person who knows one thing about our Constitution. Here is a copy of it. Read it, make copies for your kids and grandkids.

I believe that because of prosperity, a sense of entitlement, becoming seekers of pleasure and things, we, as a people, have become to complacent, to eager to let our government 'take care of us' (giving them enormous power), and ignorant of our founding principles that made us a free nation.  We have gone to sleep. And while we sleep the enemy is creeping into our homes and stealing our freedoms. One day we'll wake up and discover what has really been taken from us and then it will be too late. I wish I could close my eyes to it all too, it would be easier to go 'with the flow'. But I'm not wired that way. When I see the truth I cannot ignore it. My heart is heavy but my spirit says 'FIGHT'. So think me a radical, a nut case if you will, but I have to stand on the wall and shout 'WAKE UP!'  This generation has a battle to fight. It can happen in America, it is happening in America. We leave a legacy to our children and grandchildren, to the generation behind us. Think about that. I want my children and grandchildren to say 'she left me a legacy of freedom, of choice, of truth and taught me to stand up and fight for it!' not a legacy of complacency and chains. What kind of legacy do you want to leave?
