Weekend Cooking

Post linked to Beth Fish Reads!

Beth's post today about desperation cooking made me remember a great series I subscribed to over at Youtube...Depression Cooking with Clara

Clara was 91 when she started the videos and just finished her last one at the ripe old age of 96! Simple, quick, delicious things to eat along with great stories!

Check it out!

  1. Omg! My parents will LOVE this. I may have to make a special trip over to their place this weekend to show them. Isn't it funny how people have nostalgia for hard times. My kids love it when the power gets knocked out and we are forced to play board games by candle light. :). I guess hard times bring us together.

    1. Libby it is great isn't it when we forget all the technology and have those simple pleasures again. Why do we let it so consume our lives?

  2. This is great! My grandmother used to make pasta with peas, and my mother still does. I don't remember either of them adding potatoes though. Will share this video with my mother... she'll love it.

    1. Potato and pasta might have been a little overkill on carbs!

  6. What a great lady, my boys would have loved that when they were wee, they even ate pasta uncooked! Scary knife work though, I nearly cut a finger off when slicing potatoes like that soon after I got married, then I bought a chopping board!

  10. I haven't heard of this video series before, but she sounds like a woman who has kept up with the times. I hope I am that way when I am a senior.

    Kudos to Clara!
